We often find it difficult to spend a couple of pounds here and there for the sake of Allah. Thinking that our wealth will decrease, but this is nothing but deception by the Shaytan- his whisperings should be ignored and overlooked. As Muslims we have a concept of Baraka [Blessing]. When you spend in the way of Allah- remember that Allah is the one who Gives, Allah is the one who provides, Allah is the one who increases and He is the only one who puts the Baraka. Allah promises: If you do  Shukr then Allah will increase!  What does Shukr mean? The optimum Shukr [Gratefulness] is that you spend the wealth Allah the Almighty has given you, for His pleasure.

Imam Tirmidhi narrates: That the Messenger of Allah (s) said: There are three things which I take an oath on: 1. No man’s wealth will decrease if he spends in the path of Allah. ..

Once the Prophet (s) came home, He asked Aisha (r) did any one come to the house? She said a man came but we only had a handful of food for You oh Messenger of Allah! So I left it for You. Upon hearing this Mohammed (s) responded: No no Aisha (r) what you would have spent is that you would have kept that for me, because it would have been by Allah and it would have been stored. Whatever is with you will perish but whatever is with Allah will remain. This statement had such a profound effect on Aisha (r) that after the demise of the Messenger of Allah (s) a beggar came to Her house and the slave of Aisha (r) Barira (r) opened the door: she told the beggar that they did not have any food. Upon hearing this Aisha (r) asked: who is it? She said: it’s a beggar, and all we have is a handful of barely for You to open your fast with. It was at the time of Asr and Aisha (r) said: Give it Allah will provide! And come Magrib time there was no food, jokingly Barira  (r) said: Allah will provide, within moments they heared the banging on a door. A man gifted a goat. Aisha (r) asked: who is it? She responded: It was a man who lives amongst us, never has he gifted us with anything, but today he gave us a Goat! In which Aisha (r) said: Isn’t this goat better than the handful of barely!?!
