Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: for He loves not the ungrateful (Qur’an, 2: 276)
For our own success, we should spend time, money and efforts in giving sadaqa for the pleasure of Allah as the rewards of sadaqa is nothing but success, especially in the Hereafter.
“The likeness of those who spend for Allah’s sake is as the likeness of a grain of corn, it grows seven ears every single ear has a hundred grains, and Allah multiplies (increases the reward of) for whom He wills, and Allah is sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower).” (Qur’an, 2:261)
Abu Hurayra (r) reported Allah’s Messenger (s) as saying: “Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).” (Muslim Vol. 4, Hadith 6264)
A special form of Sadaqa is called Sadaqa Jariya which means perpetual reward. One continues to increase his/her balance of good deeds even when they are no-more. One cannot comprehend how something as little as £1 spent in this cause could continue benefitting them and hopefully saving them from Jahanam.
“If a human dies, then his good deeds stop except for three: a SadaqaJaria (continuous charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” – Sahih Muslim
We should strive to give as much Sadaqa Jariya as possible not only for ourselves but in the name of those who have passed away. Currently OLT offers many projects such as ‘plant a tree’ ‘water projects’ and so on which is a form of Sadaqa Jariya.
Let’s take the example of our ‘plant a tree’ project:
The saying of the Holy Prophet (s) comes to mind:
Never does a Muslim plant a tree, but that they earn the reward of charity because of what is eaten from it. Likewise what is stolen from it, what the wild beasts eat out of it, what the birds eat out of it, and what people take from it - all is charity for them.
And an average tree lasts for 800-1000 years. And our low-cost plant a tree project (which is just £10) means endless bags of rewards for as long as someone takes benefit from that tree even if one was to steal from it you will be rewarded!
And not only that, secure a place in Janna for your loved ones by planting a tree on their behalf. They will continue to receive reward as it is a form of Sadaqa Jariya.
Donate towards one of our projects and gain the pleasure of the Almighty.
